Bug#445513: interesting race condition with mutex logins

My .profile invokes "screen -DRR", detaching any existing login
shells.  After doing setting
/apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/login_shell to true, I start
gnome-terminal.  The first tab appears and I type in my screen
password.  If I now type C-S-t to start a new tab, this causes "screen
-dRR" to be run in the new tab, detaching the old tab.

However, the old tab appears to disappear before the new tab has been
"created", resulting in the entire gnome-terminal window being closed.
