I asked the same question to Loïc a few days ago :-) The problem is that nobody
has had both the energy to do the update and the ability to test it... I
volunteered to update the package, but due to not being able to test it I was
said it was better to wait for someone who could test it. So if you could test
it, please update it!

Also, Loïc pointed out we now prefer system-config-printer.
