Bug#476386: metacity: Window placement of gnome-terminals not respected from saved session

Package: metacity
Version: 1:2.22.0-1
Severity: normal

After logging in on a clean desktop, spawning a few gnome-terminals and
saving my session, I see the following things happening.

In ~/.gnome2/session gnome-terminal shows up:

2,RestartCommand=gnome-terminal --sm-config-prefix /gnome-terminal-5L7Tu9/ --sm-client-id 1186bcabc4000120654706300000036850013 --screen 0 --window-with-profile-internal-id=Default --hide-menubar --role=gnome-terminal-31523--1005079979-1206547064 --active --geometry 80x57+855+25 --title bilm at ws042498-linux:\\ ~ --working-directory /home/bilm --zoom 1 --window-with-profile-internal-id=Default --hide-menubar --role=gnome-terminal-31523-2109864045-1206547065 --active --geometry 80x30+1600+599 --title bilm at ws042498-linux:\\ ~ --working-directory /home/bilm --zoom 1 --window-with-profile-internal-id=Default --hide-menubar --role=gnome-terminal-31523-229941220-1206547065 --active --geometry 80x30+1600+0 --title bilm at ws042498-linux:\\ ~ --working-directory /home/bilm --zoom 1

Notice the geometry options. They reflect the geometry and placement I
intended.

However, when logging in, I see random behaviour. Sometimes the windows
appear at the proper position with the proper size, but shortly after
that, they get resized to default sizes or placed to the wrong position
(often the top left corner of the screen). Sometimes they just get
placed directly at the wrong position and often with the wrong size. It
seems there is some race condition somewhere....

Anyway, this is very annoying. After each login I still have to manually
arrange my gnome-terminals... saving my session was meant to avoid that.

This behaviour started around when GNOME 2.20 got in testing. I've seen
it on several other Debian systems as well.
