Sorry - from the German it could have been either.

I've installed

ii  gnome-settings-daemon   2.22.1-2      GNOME settings daemon
ii  gnome-control-center         1:2.22.1-1   utilities to configure
the GNOME desktop

from unstable in the hope of fixing this, but it did not help. Is
there any workaround for this problem?

The themes not working would not be so bad, but about 1 in 4 logins
additionally gives a "your session lasted less than 10 seconds"
message and immediately logs the user back out.
