Bug#496136: [gnome-panel] freezes and has to be killed

I think I'm also affected by this bug. Since about 3 days the
gnome-panel (and the whole UI) freezes when I select menu categories
with a lot of entries (e.g. 'Games'). The menu works fine if I omit
these categories.

Syslog:

This line appeared in the terminal:
