What they mean is that this will be eventually fixed by GStreamer moving
to GIO. However given the current state of the smb:// gvfs backend, I
express serious doubts about its solving everything.

I fail to see what this bug has which qualifies as critical. Unless you
are talking about the samba crash, which might be a security issue.
