What are the constituents of the "official GNOME desktop"?

Hi pkg-gnome,

I'd like to know if there's a list on the web that tells which are the
official modules in the GNOME desktop? I often read about news like
"Cheese has been accepted into the GNOME desktop" and then I ask
myself: What *is* the official GNOME desktop? Isn't it just a
collection of software modules? Where is it defines what an official
GNOME desktop consists of?

I know there's gnome-desktop-environment and it installs the official
GNOME desktop environment. But this packages does also have Recommends
and Suggests, what about these?

Thanks for your answers!

Cheers,
Fabian
