This is a PowerPC Mac mini.  I just installed Lenny from scratch on it.
The only packages installed at tasksel time were "standard" and "desktop".  None of the other packages.

after the first login attempt following a reboot, everything is normal.  Until the next reboot.
Then the first login attempt causes gdm to crash.

Very curious...
