Hello,

thank you, your suggestion indeed solved my problem. 

I still would like to point out a that :

1) "it worked before" with the debian etch (no manual setting was needed)
2) my video hardware is quite widespread (Intel 945GM)

so, something may be deficient in the debian lenny.
