Bug#481830: gedit: space indents do not line up

When using syntax highlighting, lines that start with differently-styled
text (for example, lines starting with keywords vs. variable names in C++)
have different widths for leading spaces, even in a monospace font.  This
means that indentations do not line up between these lines.  Some of the
spaces can be less than half the width of others, so this is a severe
impediment to code readability, not a small cosmetic issue.

The included screenshot illustrates the effect with the 'draw spaces'
plugin, but the same thing happens without the plugin.
