severity 481480 serious
thanks

hi,

i'm going to take the liberty to raise the severity on this, as it seems to
break all pygtk-using apps on my amd64/unstable box, whicn in my book counts
as "completely unusable" and "breaks unrelated parts of teh system" even,
maybe.

as has been noted in other bug reports, this may be the result of some kind of
unintended ABI breakage.

i've attempted rebuilding pygtk in unstable against unstable python2.5 but
have the same result.

a temporary workaround for affected applications, in the meantime, is to

import os
os.close(0)

before calling the gtk main loop. ugly and stupid, but it works :)
