I’m afraid I can’t reproduce that. Does it happen only with gcalctool?
What packages did you upgrade in this run? (Look at /var/log/dpkg.log.)
Do the 8 and 9 keys return correct results in xev? Did you change
anything to your keyboard shortcuts configuration?
