as discussed in private Email with Josselin Mouette this bug is low
priority but should be fixed in Lenny so it should be reopened.

the fix is now reported in the gnome bugzilla:

the patch for glib 1.16 is

This patch can be included in Lenny, and should fix the segfault for all
programs that use GIO/GVFS when no dbus-session is running (e.g.
programs running in a ssh -X session or in a Xfce session)
