Well, not in the sense of speed. I was rather thinking of other people accidentially destroying their (working) environment. But now that it is in testing, it may probably too late...

I'm neither an X or gnome guru, so I fear I cannot really help at finding
the bug, but I found a bugzilla entry at gnome.org which states the bug
being already fixed.

At the end it says it was fixed in git (but not exactly where) and the later
comments suggest that the fix in git may have reworked a bit.

I hope you're more familiar with their git repo to find the patch.
