Bug#541257:

There is a big downside to upgrading to the unstable version of the
Gnome Settings
Daemon. When I upgraded it moved me up to 'xorg-xserver 7.4' and removed
many
of the 'xserver-xorg-input-' driver packages as well as doing something
grave to 'OpenGL'. I'd been using the Nvidia drivers from Nvidia and
they now won't compile
correctly. The nvidia-installer complains about being able to find
OpenGL libraries. OpenGL screensavers from xscreensaver do not display
at all on Gnome screensaver.
On a similar P4 machine with the same setup, I can't use the listed
legacy (96.xx) binaries with an older GeForce card either. If anyone has
ideas about fixing these things please let me know. Oh, the fun of
"living on the edge".
Below are some particulars:

Linux 2.6.30-1-amd64

from /etc/apt/preferences:

Package: *
Pin: release a=testing
Pin-Priority: 990
Package: *
Pin: release a=unstable
Pin-Priority: 500
Package: *
Pin: release o=Debian
Pin-Priority: -10

Thanks,
Bernard L. Cohen
