If the above works correctly. then the problem most likely is, that the udev
rule includind the blkid call, is not triggered.
Which ide subsystem are you using the legacy ide or the newer libata, i.e. is
your hard disk /dev/hd? or /dev/sd? and is that different to your other laptop?
