only in unstable afaik.  i had a second laptop last week that i was using
that was pure lenny and it didn't seem to have any problems.  i agree
that the problem is mnost likely something from the xorg side... i asked
on #debian-x and pusling pointed at a libxi update at least for causing
a flood of similar or worse bugs.   i don't know if it just needs a
rebuild or if it's a more subtle problem.
