Package: libgtk2.0-0
Version: 2.12.11-4
Severity: important
Tags: patch
I feel weird tagging this important since it affects non-free stuff,
but there is no way one can label "non-working flash in
firefox/konqueror under KDE" as unimportant: it affects a large
ammount of users.
The short story: under KDE, the changed behaviour of newer gtk/glib
causes issues for programs that don't do things perfectly. Openoffice
used to be one, but it was fixed. Adobe's flash plugin is another,
and looks like it is not going to be fixed anytime soon (since it
doesn't fail on Ubuntu anymore :( ).
It doesn't crash or hang the browser always, but Flash objects simply
don't show (the flash menu pops up with a right click, but no widgets
work).
I can't reproduce it in my Lenny laptop, btw. It seems to hit only in Sid.
Here's the complete description of the problem:

Here's a link directly to a workaround that fixes the issue without causing
collateral damage, Ubuntu ships it:

For completeness, here are the errors from Konqueror:
(process:14564): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_clipboard_get_for_display: assertion
`display != NULL' failed
Adobe Flash Player: gtk_clipboard_get(GDK_SELECTION_PRIMARY); failed. Trying
to call gtk_init(0,0);
(<unknown>:14564): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_origin: assertion
`GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed
PLEASE consider adding this patch to Debian.
