Hmm, this is very strange.  I am personally running Orca on Debian
stable as well, and it does work.  It actually reminds of Bonobo/ORBit
problems we used to see earlier in the development cycle of lenny,
but at least I haven't seen any of those since a few months
before Lenny was released.

I see you are using backports packages.  What else, except the kernel,
have you upgraded from backports?
