Bug#539168: gnome-media: gnome-volume-control allways display microphone capture as muted - can't unmute

Package: gnome-media
Version: 2.26.0-1
Severity: normal

When i try to enable mic recording via gnome volume control, it
allways show it as muted.
If i unmute this item (in Recording -> Capture), nothing changes (this
setting is not working).
After closing and opening again the gnome volume control window, i can
see this muted again.

There are some bug reports filed at:
Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+bug/299642
Upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=578174

Is there a temporary way to make mic recording work until bug gets fixed?

Thanks!
