Bug#518091: libgtk2.0-0: Fails to load icons in png format

GIMP reports:

(gimp:15918): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading icon: Couldn't recognise the
image file format for file '<path to png>'

over and over, once for each png required by the user theme. All icons
appeared as [X] images (those that theme sets) or as provided by GIMP
default theme (icons not overriden by user theme, and which IIRC are
compiled into GIMP binary).

The upgrade when it started to happen is:
