Bug#526702: gnome-control-center: Apple Mackbook keyboard error

I see the bug running gnome-keyboard-properties, but it should be caused
by underlying layers. If I choose apple macbook/macbook-pro keyboard 
layout I get an error popup tellig me that there was an error:

 Error activating XKB configuration.
 It can happen under various circumstances:
 - a bug in libxklavier library
 - a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
 - X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation
 
 X server version data:
 The X.Org Foundation
 10601000
 
 If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
 - The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
 - The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd

The generic apple laptop layout worked. The output of the two commands
the popup asks to run follow:
