In the log I can see:
echo gnome:Version= >> debian/epiphany-extensions.substvars
echo gnome:NextVersion=.1 >> debian/epiphany-extensions.substvars

These are generated with a bit of sed hackery, which has no reason to
behave differently on hppa.

It would be interesting to try again on another machine. If this really
turns out to be hppa-specific, I’ll try to see what happens on a porter
machine.
