Bug#523238: G-P-M caught in the act with strace

I caught gnome-power-manager in the act of consuming all available 
memory this afternoon.  I had powered up on battery, and started "strace 
-f -o gpm.strace 3996"  The output is attached, and shows that one of 
the cloned threads (pid 8510) just keeps calling brk().
