Hi, first sorry for late response!

I resolved my problem by removing all of gwget setting from gconf and
gwget runs nice.

I can reproduce it only by restoring settings which leaded to this
assertion and then it fails same way with 1.0.1 too. But I cannot
reproduce it by normal using of gwget. 

$ gconftool-2 --load gconftool.dump
$ gwget

** (gwget:27959): CRITICAL **: gwget_data_create: assertion `url !=
NULL' failed
