Now, I also have 2.24. You must be trying to edit the wrong spot. This
is what I did:

     1. In the left pane, navigate to /desktop/gnome/session and click
        on session.
     2. In the right pane, double click on "required_components_list".
     3. Under values, select "filemanger".
     4. Click "Remove"
