differences in package versions

hi,

gnome-keybinding-properties wouldn't start on fresh install of squeeze.
The reason turned out to be different versions of gnome-packages within
gnome bundle itself. For instance, gnome-desktop-environment version was
2.26 while
gnome-session 2.28 (or something like that) etc. So I added sid repos to
upgrade all Gnome
related packages to v 2.28 and that fixed problem. I have faced this
kind of
problem secondly so far, various gnome-packages are of different
versions in synaptic. Last time gnome-screensaver wouldn't start because
gnome-session was of different version from that of screensaver's one. 
 Why would maintainers upgrade some packages of gnome to newer version
while leaving others on the old ones in testing ?! That should always
cause troubles.
