Bug#555618: gdm fails to start and I get message Server Authorization directory is set to /var/lib/gdm but this does not exist. Please correct gdm configuration.

Of course not. You don’t solve problems by removing and re-installing
packages. We are not Windows, nor Fedora.

Who cares?
Going back to the bug you see: when did it appear? Is it a fresh install
or did you upgrade from 2.20.9?
What is the output of the "ls -ld /var/lib/gdm" command?
What is the contents of your /etc/gdm/gdm.conf file?
