Just to let you know I've got the same issue.

debianmbp:/home/jo/Documents# uname -a
Linux debianmbp 2.6.31-1-amd64 #1 SMP Sat Oct 24 17:50:31 UTC 2009 
x86_64 GNU/Linux

On debian unstable (upgraded a week ago or so and with eclipse installed 
yesterday).

I'm trying to upgrade to see if the problem gets solved by a new gtk 
version.
