OK, these files are correct, but currently they are not supported
directly by dh_gconf. You need to install them by hand and call
update-gconf-defaults by hand. See e.g. what gnome-panel does.

Supporting this directly in update-gconf-defaults would not be too
complicated. It only requires detecting files in the GConf XML format by
their contents instead of their extension, as it is done currently.
