It is not written to restart the display manager. Nor to run init 1. Nor
to restart your shell. It is written to restart your session.

On GNOME, it implies the following: 
      * Click on the “System” menu. 
      * Click on the “Log Out…” item in the menu that appears. 
      * In the dialog, click on the “Log out” button. 
      * It brings you back to the display manager. 
      * Type your login. 
      * Press <Enter>. 
      * Type your password. 
      * Press <Enter>.
