As I explained: to try it out. But, as I am very used to a Raise/Lower
hotkey, I still can't use compiz, because it lacks this functionality.

Why isn't there simply some menu option in the Preferences section to
select compiz or metacity? E.g. in Fedora there was (at least in FC6) an
option to enable or disable "Desktop Effects" (which was basically
compiz or metacity selection).

OK.

Darn, I forgot to save the .xsession-errors stuff... For some reason it
works again now, but there was a segfault in .xession-errors. Of course
I should have included it, but I simply forgot :S

I did see this, unrelated, but possibly interesting error:
** (gnome-power-manager:18236): DEBUG: We are not a laptop, so not even
trying
*** ERROR ***
TI:17:36:47 TH:0x1a27110 FI:gpm-main.c FN:main,233
  - Power Manager is already running in this session.

Thanks for listening to my complains. I realize I was a bit edgy when I
wrote it. It's because things seemed to be horribly broken or at least
annoying.
