I presume this is because gnome-session has a xsettings manager, which
will reset all settings previously set by the one from gdm3 itself,
while lxde-session does not.

We have to see why the settings are not removed when the
gnome-settings-daemon process from gdm3 dies. Let’s wait for g-s-d 2.30
first.
