I decided that I wanted to test out gnome-shell briefly, so I ran it
from the terminal. That was a mistake. gnome-shell (and mutter) writes
a huge amount of output to the terminal, making that terminal window
useless for other purposes.
It is a long-standing Unix tradition that programs that have nothing to
say should say nothing. Successful operation is supposed to be silent.
If these warnings that are being spewed to the screen are actually
indications of a problem, then consider this a request to fix those
problems.
I will clone this bug report to mutter with additional output once I get
the bug number.
