Bug#589509: evince: ugly rendering of images in PDF

evince displays the attached PDF (basically a big image for the whole
page) in a very ugly, pixelated manner, to the point where it is
difficult to read.

xpdf, on the other hand, displays it quite nice.

Maybe the difference is that xpdf uses anti-aliasing whereas evince
does not?
