Package: gnome
Severity: important

Try to check what is going on with gnome !
LINUX works but gnome installing screw the /etc/fstab that works well normally

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'vol_id --uuid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
proc            /proc           proc    defaults        0       0
# / was on /dev/hda2 during installation
UUID=e1735f96-a803-4946-afaf-8cca266a6cf8 /               jfs     errors=remount-ro 0       1
# swap was on /dev/hda5 during installation
UUID=d45ef180-d370-4fa9-a9c2-c6cf93f49cbe none            swap    sw              0       0
/dev/hdc        /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 user,noauto     0       0
