Bug#587152: evince: needs to stop resizing its window

Package: evince
Version: 2.30.1-3
Severity: normal

Every new file I open with evince causes the program to resize its window to
way beyond the size of my screen. What's worse, it does the resize *after*
it has been placed by my window manager (e17, fwiw), completely defeating
the intelligent placement performed by the WM. As a regular recurring example:
evince tells the WM that its window size is (around) 400x200 pixels, and gets
placed in the lower right corner accordingly. Then, evince opens the file and
resizes its window, placing most of the content (and the resize handles)
outside of the screen's visible area.

I use a dual-monitor setup with non-identical resolutions, maybe that's what's
tripping up evince. But I fail to see the logic of the automatic resize, and
it is not uncommon for evince to resize itself beyond 2000 pixels wide or 1700
pixels high (or both). If I want a full-screen window, I can do it myself. And
with a screen size of 2360x1920, I never want full-screen windows, especially
not a window that covers both of my monitors (excuse the rant).

Another feature I could live without is evince remembering the location and
window size of every single PDF file I open. Does anyone know where this
information is stored, so I can purge it?
