Actually, that commit ("Fix key_from_gconf_key logic") just fixed a bug
I happened to notice while reviewing the code.  The bugfix for the
inability to set keyboard shortcuts via mandatory gconf settings came
from commit b43fcdfd20c6eb4f972333080a435ba8567cc6fa ("Always unlock the
accel path before trying to change it").
