Hello Paul,
i am the person who debugged this problem.
I'm sorry about having no further information for you than you already
traced out in your mail. I did as follows:
After putting in a CD to rip i first started Sound-Juicer from the Gnome
Panel, hit the button for ripping and SJ immediately crashed.
To get some further information about what happened i put in another CD
and started SJ from a shell with the command "sound-juicer -a". The
program started but again crashed immediately. I got the follwing output
from the shell:
(sound-juicer:6579): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_entry_set_text: assertion
`text != NULL' failed
(sound-juicer:6579): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_entry_set_text: assertion
`text != NULL' failed
** (sound-juicer:6579): CRITICAL **:
musicbrainz_submit_message_area_new: assertion `title != NULL' failed
(sound-juicer:6579): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer
instance
(sound-juicer:6579): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data:
assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed
** (sound-juicer:6579): CRITICAL **:
gedit_message_area_set_default_response: assertion
`GEDIT_IS_MESSAGE_AREA (message_area)' failed
(sound-juicer:6579): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_show: assertion
`GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
I looked for a debugging package for SJ but didn't find.
I couldn't reproduce the bug with a Gnome-2.30 package as Emilio
suggested because an "apt-show-versions -a" didn't offer me any Gnome
2.30 package in sqeeze or sid/unstable.
Running SJ for playing a CD would cause no problem. Only there are no
artists and title informations availible.
That's all i can tell you. Hope this helps
Best Regards
Dirk
