Maybe this is a wishlist item... is it supposed to update-alternatives?

I change my preferred browser to Iceweasel, but:

So a lot of programs still run epiphany when I click links.  Epiphany is
cool but I'm not ready to switch, and it's often blocked because it is not
"a supported browser." 

If it is not supposed to work that way and broken, could there be
a checkbox to sync /etc/alternatives with gksu?
