Bug#595503: gnome-applets: fails to get the forecast info for Australian cities

As the   http://www.bom.gov.au/ website has under gone an update, forecast information in the gnome weather applet no longer works.
The temperature / condition base still works, so I assume that part used the bom ftp server...
