Bug#595598: Fails to start - cannot find dconf-service

When trying to start gnome-shell:
$ gnome-shell
Starting dconf-service...  
Failed to start /usr/lib/d-conf/dconf-service: [Errno 2] No such file or directory
$

I keep all required packages up-to-date (including glib from experimental)
but cannot run gnome-shell.
It does not start even when variable WINDOW_MANAGER=gnome-shell is set.
