I looked into repositories and both squeeze / sid have
version 1.8.10-5. The only previous package is 1.6.4-7 from lenny, but
I think downgrading packages from sid to stable it's not a good idea (I
don't know what's the number of dependencies for this package and the
consecuences of downgrading a lot of packages)

Also I tested with freetype previous version and fails too, so
it's probably that problem is caused on cairo / xorg packages.

Any chance to get old packages with a easy method (repositories) ?
I can download & install manually package & dependencies if the number
is low (I mean, less than 10) but with xorg, I think that we are talking
about 15-30 dependencies.
