Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

currently there are around 60 packages providing GObject introspection
data, and the number is quickly increasing with the arrival of GNOME 3.
These packages are meant to replace Python modules for all libraries
based on GObject. They contain files in a specific format (.typelib)
that can be used currently by Python, Seed and GJS to dynamically
generate bindings for these libraries.

We have quite a strict policy for these packages:
	/usr/share/doc/gobject-introspection/policy.txt

Currently they belong to the libs section, but I feel they belong to a
new, specific section. We discussed a bit names for it on IRC, but
without finding a sparkling solution.
 * Either you consider this will remain GObject-specific, and the name
should be something like gobject-introspection or any abbreviation of
that (for the record, “GIR” in paths and package names means “gobject
   introspection repository”).
 * Either you consider this practice might become used by other
subsystems and you name it according to its actual functionality. For
   example dyn-bindings, or introspection.

The regexp to add existing packages is: "gir1\.2-.*"

Thanks,
