Hi,

I wanted to chime in and say that I had basically the same
experience on mipsel (lemote).

Only difference was that I got SIGBUS instead of a spin.

The workaround of rebuilding without the -Wl,-z,defs worked
beautifully.

If, as you've figgured, the issue is a symbol that's not getting
set, it makes sense that some people would get spinning, some
segfaults and some SIGBUS. (there's other bug reports about
segfaults, dunno if they have the same cause as this or not.)

I'm happy to help out with further testing/investigation if you
give me something spicific to do.
