Bug#651086: gnome-shell: Does not work with two displays (NVIDIA) running xinerama (one rotated)

Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.0.2-8
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
My xorg.conf is at the bottom of this file. I run with
a 30" display next to a 90 degree rotated 20" display (thus they have the same height)
and use xinerama to make one screen out of the two displays. When starting gnome, the
left (30") display is black (but the cursor runs over it fine) and the right display
is most of a gnome 3 shell (with the actions (or was it applications?) label but no clock).
No keyboard shortcut or click anywhere has any effect (but the keyboard works, and I can use
ctrl-alt-f1 to get to a terminal to kill gdm3 and start over)
