Bug#652055: gnome-terminal: occasional invisibility of text

The attached screenshot shows a problem I encounter frequently: gnome-terminal
decides, for some strange reason, to not show most of the text.  Using the
mouse to select text makes it visible for as long as the selection highlight is
active.  The problem persists for a while and then resolves itself; sometimes
(but not always) forcing a terminal reset resolves the problem.  The problem
occurs several times on an average work day.

Now, it is possible that the problem is somewhere else; I have noticed similar
problems with Emacs (but less frequently).  Please reassign if appropriate.
