This might be your own fault then. The Debian version is built against
libmozjs. Seems you built your own version.
# ldd /usr/bin/gnome-shell | grep js
libgjs.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgjs.so.0 (0x00007fbdfb102000)
libmozjs.so.8d => /usr/lib/libmozjs.so.8d (0x00007fbdfab60000)
