Package: gvfs-fuse
Followup-For: Bug #629650
Hi.
I had gvfs-fuse installed on a machine, probably pulled in by deja-dup, the
only program dependent on gvfs-fuse that was installed. The machine was not in
use for approx. 6 weeks. Yesterday I did an upgrade (running wheezy) and gvfs-
fuse was version 1.6.4-3 after that (don't know about before). Now, I had the
same problem the reporter of this bug describes.
After logging out of the first session of my default user account (andreas)
Thunar was not able to open ~ any more stating an fstat() error on .gvfs and
did not display any content of ~. In an xfce4-terminal it was possible to ls
the files; lsof, on the other hand, also stated the fstat() problem for .gvfs.
The only way to be able to access ~ again (in Thunar) is to reboot.
Interestingly, when I tried with another XFCE user account, xe (started via
gdmflexiserver), used for testing and frequently scratched, so usually fairly
fresh, this problem did not occur.
The only obvious difference (besides xe being rather fresh as compared to
andreas) is that xe is using English language in XFCE (locale settings are
still DE_DE.UTF-8), and andreas German.
After removing gvfs-fuse completely, the problem disappeared after a reboot (so
far).
Regards
Andreas
