That cannot be true. This setup has been working since... always?

(I am currently using Lenny with "mail-notification" and "auto-login"
enabled and no password is being asked on start-up so gnome-keyring is
unlocked okay).

It stopped from working in wheezy 2-3 weeks ago or so, so something happened.
